For over 30 years, we’ve been dedicated to sourcing and producing exceptional meat. What began in 1993 as Freedown Food, importing the finest Wagyu from around the world, evolved into something truly special in 2019: the creation of our very own British Wagyu, Freedown Hills.
Born in Yorkshire, Raised with Care
Nestled on the edge of the Yorkshire Wolds, Freedown Hills Wagyu is reared at Scurf Dyke Farm, where farmer Roy Thompson and his family have perfected a refreshingly sustainable approach to livestock farming. Their commitment to animal welfare, land stewardship, and quality ensures every cut embodies the best of British craftsmanship.
The cattle roam freely, enjoying a carefully balanced diet that includes one unique ingredient, olives. This olive-enriched feed enhances the marbling, tenderness, and distinctive flavour that sets Freedown Hills Wagyu apart. The result is beef that harmoniously combines the robust depth of European breeds with the signature melt-in-the-mouth texture of Japanese Wagyu.

Award-Winning Quality
This dedication to excellence has not gone unnoticed. In 2024, Freedown Hills Wagyu Ribeye earned a Gold Medal at the World Steak Challenge, standing proudly among the best steaks on the planet. It’s a true testament to the care, expertise, and passion poured into every stage of production.
Experience the Taste of British Excellence
Whether prepared like James Martin with a vibrant chimichurri sauce or seared simply in a hot pan, Freedown Hills British Wagyu delivers a dining experience unlike any other - rich, buttery, and unmistakably Yorkshire.
