About us
Some of the finest things begin close to home.
Freedown Food was founded in 1994 by Danny and his brother-in-law John, a family venture built on a shared belief that the quality of what ends up on the plate begins long before it reaches the kitchen. Over the three decades that followed, that belief shaped a business at the forefront of sourcing and importing exceptional meats from around the world, supplying the most respected chefs and restaurants across the UK with the cuts they trust most.
In 2018, that same expertise, and the same uncompromising standards, found a new home.
MEAT ME AT HOME was born from a simple but ambitious idea: that the experience of truly extraordinary meat should not be reserved for restaurant tables. From the moment you order, our mission is to bring the same level of care, provenance, and culinary discovery that has defined Freedown Food for thirty years directly to yours.
What began with the cuts closest to our hearts; the deeply marbled Wagyu beef of Japan and the prized Ibérico pork of the Spanish dehesa, has grown into something richer. We have since extended our meat offering well beyond those foundations, and introduced a carefully curated selection of pantry products: ingredients chosen with the same rigour we apply to every cut, and sourced to complement the way you cook at home. Each addition to the range earns its place. Nothing is here by accident.
Every piece is handled with precision, sourced with intention, and delivered with the confidence that comes from a lifetime in the trade.
This is a family business. It always has been. And at its heart remains the same conviction Danny and John began with: that exceptional ingredients, prepared with care, transform an ordinary meal into something worth remembering.
We invite you to experience that for yourself.
