USDA Prime Natural Beef Striploin Steak

Containing one ±300g steak, this Striploin steak will be a perfect Saturday night dinner with a gorgeous glass of wine. The lean and tender steak works well with a simple crisp side salad, or some fried Gnocchi drizzled with fresh Pesto.
USDA Prime Natural Beef Striploin, or Sirloin, comes from along the spine in the hindquarter of the animal. A muscle that doesnt do much work, it is tender with a thin covering of fat protecting the stunningly marbled meat beneath. US Grain Fed Beef has been fed for 100 days on Grain, it is this that produces a very tender and juicy piece of meat, with beautiful intramuscular fat. The stunning flecks of fat marbled throughout are what ensures the meat will not be dry out too quickly during cooking or get tough and chewy.

How to cook your striploin steak

🔧 What You’ll Need:
• 300g Prime US Striploin steak
• Salt & freshly cracked black pepper
• Oil with a high smoke point (e.g. avocado or grapeseed)
• Optional: butter, garlic, fresh thyme or rosemary
• Meat thermometer (recommended)
• Tongs, cast iron or steel pan, oven tray, grill

🔥 OPTION 1: Pan Only (Stovetop)

1. Bring to Room Temperature
• Rest steak outside the fridge for 30–45 minutes.

2. Season
• Pat dry, season generously with salt and pepper.
• Add a bit of oil on both sides

3. Heat the Pan
• Heat on high until smoking hot.

4. Sear the Steak
• Sear 2 minutes per side.
• Optional: Add butter, garlic & herbs, baste for extra flavor.

5. Rest
• Let steak rest for 5–7 minutes before serving.
• Internal temperature should be 54–57°C for medium-rare.

🔥 OPTION 2: Grill Only

1. Prep Steak
• Same as above: bring to room temp, pat dry, season.

2. Preheat Grill
• Heat to 220–250°C (medium-high).

3. Grill Steak
• Sear over direct heat: 2–3 minutes per side.
• Move to indirect heat, cook another 1–2 minutes per side to desired doneness.

4. Rest & Serve
• Internal temp: 54–57°C for medium-rare.
• Rest 5 minutes before slicing.

🔥 OPTION 3: Pan + Oven Finish

1–3. Sear in Pan
• Follow Pan steps: bring to room temp, season, sear on high heat 2 minutes per side.

4. Transfer to Oven
• Preheat oven to 180°C (fan-assisted or standard).
• Move steak to oven-safe tray or leave in oven-safe pan.
• Roast for 4–6 minutes, depending on thickness & desired doneness.

5. Rest & Serve
• Check internal temp (medium-rare: 54–57°C).
• Let rest 5–7 minutes.

PRO TIPS:
• Resting is essential – it allows juices to redistribute.
• Use a thermometer – it’s the most accurate way to avoid overcooking.
• Always slice against the grain for tenderness.
