Poulet de Bresse
These white chickens with their redbreasts were the first live animals ever to obtain a protected designation of origin (AOC) certification. Produced by a small handful of farmers from the Bresse region in Eastern France, the birds are fed on a locally grown grain mix and are actively encouraged to forage for worms and insects for typically about four months. They are widely reputed to be the best eating chicken in the world.
