Used widely by chefs throughout China as a building block for umami in dishes. However, our version has the additional flavours of dried tangerine, oyster sauce and sweet bean paste.

Taste notes: dark rich salty umami, chocolate, coffee.

Ingredients: black beans, salt, preservatives, sugar, dark soy, oyster sauce, sweet bean paste, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, vegetable oil.

Use for:

  • Dip for meat / fish / vegetables.
  • Instead of ketchup.
  • Base for salad dressings.
  • Use in stir fries by adding stock to create classical black bean sauce.
  • Add to fish or meat before steaming for classical Cantonese preparations.
  • As a relish in a sandwich.
  • Add to fried rice dishes.
